1) Carnival – February

The Nice Carnival

The Nice Carnival is the centrepiece of the winter season on the French Riviera. By the time Carnival arrives the days begin to get longer and the sun shines higher in the sky, making the prospect of spring arriving seem like more than just a distant thought. Carnival is an annual event that begins around February. Between interesting parades with floats and flowers, tons of free activities for kids and various neighbourhood events take place. The parade route changes slightly every year but usually involves a parade partway up the Promenade des Anglais. Tickets are on usually sold at the Nice Tourist Office or you can purchase them in the stalls set up on the Promenade des Anglais.

2) Cannes Film FestivalMay

May in the French Riviera sees over 30,000 form the TV and movie industry descend upon Cannes for 12 days. Producers, distributors, publicists, stars and entourages flood the town to celebrate the success of the industry. Cannes Film Festival is highly regarded as one of the most prestigious and prominent film festivals on the calendar, so no matter where you are in Cannes, you’re likely to see the film festival underway!

3) Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix– (May)

Monaco is the home to the well-known for Formula onc racing, not to mention being a hot spot among the rich and famous. Elegance, decadence and culture is packed into this compact principality, which hosts the Monaco Grand Prix each May. One of the oldest and most prestigious car races, the Grand Prix has been held annually since 1929, with the world’s best drivers allowed to race the 78 laps.

4) Nice Jazz Festival (mid) July

The Nice Jazz Festival takes place at Jardins Albert Premiere every July and brings together artists and fans from the world of jazz, funk, blues world and pop and has been doing so since 1948. The Nice Jazz Festival not only brings great entertainment in the form of headline artists like Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davids, Herbie Hancock and Diana Krall.

The prestigious Jazz à Juan festival held each year in Juan-les-Pins is the oldest continuously running jazz festival in Europe. Since 1960 a steady stream of the world’s finest artists have brought their indictments and voices to Juan-les-Pins.
