Perfect Places to Visit on Your Honeymoon
We have put together a list of our favourite, romantic places on the French Riviera and what you can find to keep your special break full of culture, experiences and romance.
Founded by the Greeks, Nice is bursting with romance. With plenty of history and culture, the city is also home to a beautiful, long sea front for romantic sunset walks. There is also an extensive flower market filled with the bright colours of fruits, veg and flowers to pick out for your beau as a token of your love. Nice is lined with pretty, coloured buildings, and plenty of restaurants, museums, boutiques, cafes and bars. It is also the former home to artists like Henri Matisse, for the art fanatics you can visit the Musée Matisse. For a truly perfect and romantic evening, we recommend watching the sun go down over the Bay of Angels, where you can see the whole of Nice: the old town below; the hills of Cimiez on the right and the large stretch of beaches and coastline.
Most famous for its international film festival held in May, where you can rub shoulders with the stars! Cannes is all about luxury, glitz and glam, with many VIP nightclubs, fine dining restaurants and high-end fashion boutiques. With Chanel hand bags, Cartier Jewellery and Celine boutiques at the ready, if you are looking for a luxury souvenir for your honeymoon – think Cannes. Lined with sea-front restaurants for you to sip cocktails in the sun, with an uninterrupted view of the beach and blue horizon, Cannes is the perfect place to relax – just the two of you. One of our favourite, luxury treats in Cannes is the gorgeous double day beds on the beach – your own private nest with its own waiter service – what a romantic way to spend a beach day.
Situated on the north hills of Cannes, Grasse is best known for its perfume industry – why not create the perfect perfume for your other half, visit the Musée International de la Parfumerie or explore the Grasse Cathedral – this is situated in the picturesque old town. It still homes 30 perfumeries, some of which offer guided tours with the ability to create your own, bespoke scent. You can create some great memories here, with a souvenir to remember your romantic break too!
This Mediterranean fishing port is small but lively! This small town is looked over by the highest sea cliff In France, Cap Canaille, which you can climb along to get unimaginably stunning, sea views. Full of quirky restaurants, pastel-coloured buildings, cute cafes and shops, you will be sure to find something a little bit different. This location is great if you’re looking for a more active honeymoon, with plenty for hikers, rock climbers, scuba divers and boating enthusiasts. Why not take a trip to the local vineyards too? They are well known for producing Cassis white wine.
The classic resort town has a 16th century old town, an extensive marina, 48 beautiful beaches to walk along and the Picasso museum to explore. One of our favourite Mediterranean villages is home to some of the world’s most expensive superyachts and winding, narrow streets that lead to the best views of the coast and mountains.
One of the best things about the French Riviera is its extensive transport methods – so you and your loved one don’t have to worry when you’re about out and about. Uber operates in most of the French Riviera and most locations are very pedestrian-friendly, so you can stay in one place or discover what the whole of the Cote d’Azur has to offer. Taxis and trains run all the way through the connecting coastal towns making it easy for you to explore more than one location on your trip.
Spoilt for choice and don’t know where to visit first? Kayak rentals and guided cruise tours are available too, so you can explore a vast expanse of the French Riviera.
